Frenchboro is located 8 1/4 miles off the coast of Mount Desert Island. Frenchboro is one of many islands in the Outer Long Island group. The island is composed of approximately 50 year round residents, so you will find no store or hospital. To explain Frenchboro in such few words is impossible. You need to see for yourself its elegance and unique tranquility. There are too many beaches to count! There are beaches of round rocks, sharp rocks, large rocks, small rocks, tall rocks, short rocks, and there is even a little bit of sand if you look carefully. Goosberry Point can be easily accessed by foot or light duty vehicle; If you want to catch the sunset, this is the place to be. Eastern beach can be accessed by foot, and if it's the sunrise you're looking for, then Eastern Beach is where it's at. Of course, these two aren't the only beaches on the island; there are several more all in between these two! Most of the land is owned by the Frenchboro Preserve which offers miles and miles of clean cut walking trails.

Note: There are NO medical services, pharmacies, or grocery stores. Us islanders are friendly to our visitors, but please be prepared for your stay; if you think you need something, buy two or three of them. There are absolutely NO trash receptacles open to boaters; that being said, it's expected that you bring off with you only what you've brought onto the island!
